The Sales Experience: Creating Strategic Partnerships

THE SALES EXPERIENCE is a transformative program designed to strengthen and reinforce sales strategy development and implementation. The session provides the tools for bringing a consistent, replicable approach to assessing and understanding the client perspective, identifying and creating opportunity, planning strategic solutions, communicating with clarity, and establishing common focus through cooperation in both the selling and implementation phases.

Length: 2 (consecutive) half-day sessions

Session highlights:

Strategy and Client-Driven Success: Identifying and articulating success factors — a method for understanding success from a more encompassing understanding of the client’s perspective. Developing and specifying solution plans from the strategic and tactical perspectives through effective critical thinking and application of a proven systematic method.

  ● Clarity in Communication: Understanding what really breaks down in communicating — from planning through implementation — both externally and internally. Seeing the impact miscommunication has on business results, and a method for ensuring clarity and common understanding.

  ● Creating Cooperation: Understanding the four ways people commonly organize their efforts, and how to influence this, including correcting dysfunction. Cooperation requires common purpose, effective communication and commitment. It doesn’t just occur — it is a product of effective leadership (which doesn’t have to come from the person in charge!).

  ● Ensuring Success: Developing systematic ways of measuring real-time results, providing feedback, monitoring progress toward client success, and adjusting plans as the environment changes.

Outcomes:

● Understanding the client perspective, and applying tools for clarifying client-defined success.
  ● Critical thinking method and tools for identifying, creating and seizing sales opportunities.
  ● Building actual relationships that enable clients to perceive you as a strategic partner.
  ● Development of selling tactics that are aligned with larger strategy.
  ● Better-equipped sales personnel who can communicate and be perceived as allies — so the sales process becomes "downhill" instead of "uphill."
  ● Sales teams who share common purpose, and are better enabled to support one another's efforts.
  ● Before, during and after the "close," sales strategies that inform, co-op, and equip internal stakeholders — eliminating surprises, and aligning sales promises with actual deliverables upon implementation.

Recommended format: In-company program. Min/Max enrollment: 5/20

Candidates: Those who have strategic sales or business development accountability, account management or direct large client sales responsibilities. Recommended for sales team managers and team members.

Strategy and Execution

STRATEGY and EXECUTION is offered as an internal company program.

Length: 2 days

STRATEGY and EXECUTION
is a two-day hands-on program developed for managers who must advance their capabilities in thinking and planning strategically. Whether planning a complex project, or planning for a department, business unit or company, there is a methodical way of thinking about the future that helps managers ensure success.

Strategic thinking is not an art or a talent — it is a skill. Effective strategic thinking requires discipline, practice and critical thinking. There is a proven technology for thinking and planning in this way, and it can be learned.

Planning strategically is conceptually straightforward and fundamentally simple to understand, but it is difficult in application, because the environments in which managers must plan are dynamic and complex. There are hundreds of methodologies "out there" designed to assist managers with thinking strategically, but most are linked either to some proprietary system or are based on some preferred functional perspective, limiting their scope and applicability.

STRATEGY and EXECUTION is a dual-module program that places participants in positions where they must develop plans for identifying and seizing opportunity, articulating ideas for potential business success, and then systematically assigning outcomes that will bring their plans to fruition. They learn a step-by-step approach to strategic thinking in concrete and specific terms, applying our proven methodology first in simulated businesses, and then in application to real-world challenges they face in their actual jobs. They will present their plans just as though they would present to senior management or to a board of directors, and refine their skill as they receive critical feedback.

This iterative approach enables participants to accelerate development of their strategic planning skills, and at the same time, they learn concrete tools for implementing these plans through the efforts of others. Even a perfect strategic plan will fail without effective implementation and execution. So the course includes a module that enables managers to create clear expectations for others that make bigger jobs, specifying clear accountability, defining the lines of authority, and encouraging resourcefulness. The highest levels of success derive from exceptional planning AND purposeful implementation.

Recommended format: In-company program. Min/Max enrollment: 5/20

Candidates: New or experienced managers who must identify opportunity, develop plans for seizing it, clearly articulate their plans, and implement those plans through their own efforts and/or the efforts of others.

Session Fee: $25,500 for between 5 and 20 participants

Seeking Clarity: The Communication Problem—SOLVED!

SEEKING CLARITY is offered as an internal company program.

Length: 1 Day or 2 Days

SEEKING CLARITY
is a development program offered as an in-house session for removing/resolving communication barriers and increasing innovation.

Finally, a course that actually identifies and resolves everyday communication issues — what causes misunderstanding, misinterpretations, assumptions and confusion in work environments, and what can be done about it? This has a DIRECT impact on the results people are able to get at work.

While social scientists, educators and philosophers have been trying to solve this problem for ages, no one has ever done so. LeaderScope decided to tackle the issue, and began researching vigorously. As a result, we developed a new experiential session called SEEKING CLARITY: The Communication Problem—SOLVED!

This is a no-bull, immersive class that places people in complex, dynamic situations — just like those at work — and challenges them to communicate effectively. They learn where and why communication breaks down. They learn what impact this has on results. And they get to practice using a tangible tool for preventing miscommunication, and for overcoming it when it occurs — so people can go back to focusing on the work and getting results.

Recommended format: In-company program. Min/Max enrollment: 10/24

Candidates: New or experienced managers seeking to understand and systematically resolve communication breakdowns in work groups, project teams and business units.

Session Fee: $19,500 (1 Day) or 28,500 (2 Days) for up to 24 participants

Advanced Leadership: Secrets of the CEO

ADVANCED LEADERSHIP: SECRETS OF THE CEO is a one-day development program offered exclusively to people who have attended LeaderScope's Leadership Experience or Executive Experience courses.

Advanced Leadership is a session in which participants are led through a discussion of advanced leadership, accompanied by analysis of film clips from "Twelve O'clock High" — scenes that were not discussed in LeaderScope's other courses. Then participants engage in exercises where they are challenged to apply this advanced thinking to situations in their real-world jobs.

Participants review high-level results, assess complex situations, identify critical factors impacting performance, and intervene to advance performance. There is special emphasis on the "CEO perspective" and the five areas where advanced leaders must concentrate their attention:

Gathering and interpreting key information
  Reviewing critical performance
Creating focus where it matters most
Enforcing the rules (and knowing when to make exceptions)
  Planning and preparing for growth

This is a very intensive program designed for those who are serious about improving their leadership skills. Advanced Leadership is offered as an open enrollment program attended by people from multiple companies.

Candidates: Those who have been identified as having high potential for general and senior management positions.

Session Fee: $3,500 per participant
